Coast

Pacific region, say

Coast as a noun is the land along the edge of a sea or ocean, or the region near it: We drove down the coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

In the United States, *the coast* often refers specifically to either the East or West Coast.

As a verb, coast means to move without effort or power, as when a bicycle coasts downhill, or to proceed with minimal exertion: He coasted through the semester on natural talent.

The expression *the coast is clear* means there's no danger of being seen or caught.
