uplands
Elevated terrain areas
Uplands are elevated areas of land, higher ground as opposed to valleys, coasts, or lowlands.
The term often describes rural terrain: sheep grazing in the uplands, the Scottish uplands.
As an adjective, upland describes things found in or characteristic of such regions: upland farms, upland birds.
