Chinese American
East-meets-West identity
A Chinese American is a person of Chinese descent who is American by birth or citizenship.
The term functions as both noun and adjective: Chinese American communities, a third-generation Chinese American.
Like other hyphenated-American terms, it can emphasize dual heritage or simply identify ethnicity within the American context.
