ramp-up

Production scale increase

Ramp-up is a gradual increase in activity, production, or intensity: The ramp-up to full manufacturing capacity took six months.

The term comes from the image of ascending an inclined surface—starting slow, then accelerating.

As a verb (ramp up), it means to increase something progressively: We're ramping up hiring for the holiday season.
