inhalers

Handheld respiratory aids

Inhalers are handheld devices that deliver medication directly to the lungs, used primarily for asthma and other respiratory conditions.

The user breathes in while pressing the device, which releases a measured dose of medicine as a fine mist or powder: She keeps an inhaler in her purse for emergencies.

Also called puffers informally.
