Braxton Hicks

Uterine rehearsal squeezes

Braxton Hicks contractions are irregular uterine contractions that occur during pregnancy, sometimes called false labor or practice contractions.

Unlike true labor contractions, they don't increase in intensity or frequency and typically subside with rest or hydration: I thought I was in labor but it was just Braxton Hicks.

Named after the physician who first described them.
