false labor
Misleading pregnancy cramps
False labor refers to contractions during pregnancy that mimic true labor but don't lead to delivery.
Also called Braxton Hicks contractions, these irregular tightenings of the uterus typically stop with movement or rest, unlike real labor contractions which intensify progressively: I thought I was in labor, but it turned out to be false labor.
