Florida Everglades

Subtropical marsh preserve

The Florida Everglades is a vast subtropical wetland in southern Florida, a slow-moving river of sawgrass marshes, mangrove forests, and shallow waters stretching from Lake Okeechobee to Florida Bay.

The ecosystem supports alligators, wading birds, and the endangered Florida panther.

Much of the region is protected as Everglades National Park: We took an airboat tour through the Everglades.
