BluRay
High-definition disc format
Blu-ray is an optical disc format for high-definition video, succeeding DVD with greater storage capacity and sharper picture quality.
The name comes from the blue laser used to read the discs, which has a shorter wavelength than DVD's red laser.
A Blu-ray player or drive reads these discs: I still buy Blu-rays for movies I really love.
The format won a standards war against HD DVD in the late 2000s.
