Author

Name on spine

An author is someone who writes—especially books, articles, or other substantial texts.

The term carries more weight than writer, suggesting completed, published work: the author of three novels, citing the original author.

Author also means originator more broadly: the author of the plan.

As a verb, to author is to write or create: She authored the report.
