Arctic region
Far northern zone
The Arctic region is the area surrounding the North Pole, typically defined as the zone north of the Arctic Circle where the sun doesn't set on the summer solstice or rise on the winter solstice.
It encompasses the Arctic Ocean, northern portions of several countries, and vast stretches of permafrost and tundra: Climate change is affecting the Arctic region faster than anywhere else on Earth.
