Anglo-
Prefix meaning English
Anglo- is a combining form meaning English or British, often in contrast to another culture or language group: Anglo-American relations, Anglo-French rivalry.
In the American Southwest, Anglo distinguishes white English-speakers from Hispanic or Latino populations: The town is about half Anglo, half Hispanic.
The prefix appears in historical terms like Anglophile (one who admires England) and Anglican (the English church tradition).
