Amerindian

First Nations person

Amerindian refers to the indigenous peoples of the Americas—North, Central, and South America—or their languages and cultures.

The term combines American and Indian and is used particularly in anthropological and linguistic contexts: Amerindian languages, Amerindian populations.

It appears more commonly in British English and in discussions of South American and Caribbean indigenous groups than in North American contexts, where Native American or Indigenous predominate.
