Agni
Sacred pyre deity
Agni is the Hindu god of fire, one of the most important deities in Vedic religion.
As the divine messenger between humans and gods, Agni carries offerings from sacrificial fires to the heavens.
The name appears in English discussions of Hindu mythology, comparative religion, and Sanskrit literature: Agni appears in more hymns of the Rigveda than any other deity. (Lowercase agni refers to digestive fire in Ayurvedic contexts.)
