486

Four hundred eighty-six

The Intel 486, introduced in 1989, was a microprocessor that powered personal computers through the early 1990s.

Often called the "four-eighty-six," it represented a significant leap in computing power over its predecessor, the 386.

The term became shorthand for the computers themselves: My old 486 still runs DOS games.

Now largely a nostalgic reference to early PC computing.
