yaws
Tropical skin treponematosis
Yaws is a chronic tropical infection caused by a bacterium closely related to syphilis, spread through skin contact rather than sexually.
It produces raspberry-like skin lesions and can damage bones and cartilage if untreated.
The disease primarily affects children in humid equatorial regions of Africa, Asia, and South America.
