y-intercepts
Where lines start
Y-intercepts is the plural of y-intercept, the point where a line or curve crosses the vertical axis on a graph.
In the equation y = mx + b, the y-intercept is b—the value of y when x equals zero.
Most straight lines have one y-intercept, but curves may have several: The parabola has two y-intercepts.
