interceptors

Those who intercept

Interceptors are things designed to stop or catch something in transit.

Fighter aircraft tasked with engaging enemy planes before they reach their targets are interceptors, as are missiles designed to destroy incoming warheads.

In software, interceptors are components that intercept requests or data flowing through a system, allowing modification or inspection before processing continues.

The term applies broadly to anything positioned to cut off or block something mid-course.
