woodwright

Builds with lumber

A woodwright is a craftsman who works with wood, particularly one who builds wooden structures or objects.

The term follows the pattern of wheelwright and shipwright, where -wright means maker or builder.

Though less common than carpenter or woodworker, woodwright often suggests traditional hand-tool craftsmanship: The woodwright shaped the beam with an adze.
