drawknife

Two-handled wood shaper

A drawknife is a woodworking blade with handles at both ends, pulled toward the user to shave wood.

Coopers use drawknives to shape barrel staves; chairmakers use them to round spindles.

The tool removes material quickly but requires skill to control depth.

Also called a drawing knife or drawshave.
