A windscreen wiper is a rubber blade on an arm that sweeps back and forth across a vehicle's windscreen to clear rain, snow, or debris.
The term is standard in British English; Americans say windshield wiper.
Most vehicles have two wipers operating in tandem, activated by a dashboard switch: Turn on the windscreen wipers—it's starting to rain.
