whale tail
Diver's farewell wave
A whale tail is the visible shape made when a thong or G-string rises above low-cut pants at the back, resembling the flukes of a whale's tail: She bent over and everyone could see her whale tail.
The term emerged in the early 2000s when low-rise jeans made such exposure common.
Also refers to the actual tail fin of a whale, or a type of rear spoiler on sports cars shaped like a whale's flukes.
