minke
Small rorqual species
A minke is a small baleen whale, the most abundant of the rorquals.
Minkes reach about 30 feet long—modest by whale standards—and are found in oceans worldwide.
They're a primary target of countries that still practice commercial whaling: Japanese whalers take hundreds of minkes annually under research permits.
