weight stack
Iron slab column
A weight stack is the set of rectangular iron or steel plates in a gym machine that provides resistance for strength training.
The plates are stacked vertically and connected by a cable-and-pulley system; users select their desired resistance by inserting a pin at the appropriate weight level.
She moved the pin down to add more weight to the stack.
Weight stack machines offer a safer alternative to free weights since the movement is guided along a fixed path.
