wave-off

Hand signal refusal

A wave-off is a signal to abort or dismiss, typically a hand gesture waving someone away.

In aviation, it's an instruction to abandon a landing approach and go around: The pilot received a wave-off due to debris on the runway.

More broadly, any rejection or dismissal: His concerns got a wave-off from management.
