war horn
Military brass instrument
A war horn is a horn blown to signal in battle—to rally troops, coordinate movements, or intimidate enemies.
Historically made from animal horns or metal, war horns appear across cultures from Viking raids to medieval cavalry charges.
The term now appears mostly in fantasy games and fiction: The war horn sounded and the army advanced.
