alpenhorn
Swiss mountain horn
An alpenhorn is a long wooden horn, traditionally used by Swiss herders to call cattle or signal across Alpine valleys.
The instrument, sometimes called an alphorn, produces deep, resonant tones and has become a symbol of Swiss folk culture: The sound of an alpenhorn echoed across the mountainside.
