upfronts
TV advertising previews
Upfronts are the annual presentations where television networks unveil their fall schedules to advertisers, typically held in May.
The term refers both to the events themselves and to the advertising deals struck during this period, when advertisers commit to buying commercial time "up front" before the season begins: The network announced three new dramas at the upfronts.
Buying upfront typically secures better rates than waiting for the scatter market later.
