ulcerations
Tissue erosion wounds
Ulcerations are open sores or lesions where tissue has broken down, typically on skin or mucous membranes.
The term appears in medical contexts describing wounds that fail to heal normally: The patient presented with ulcerations along the gum line.
Ulceration can also refer to the process of forming such sores: Prolonged exposure caused ulceration of the stomach lining.
