abrasions
Skin friction injuries
Abrasions are areas where skin or another surface has been scraped or worn away by friction.
A skinned knee is an abrasion.
The term extends to any wearing down through rubbing: The rope showed abrasions from constant use.
Figuratively, abrasions can be points of friction in relationships or situations.
