perforations

Tiny tear-line holes

Perforations are small holes punched through a surface, typically in a line or pattern.

The rows of tiny holes between postage stamps are perforations, as are the dotted lines on notebook paper that let you tear pages cleanly: Tear along the perforations.

The term also applies to holes made by puncture wounds or disease, as when an ulcer perforates the stomach wall.
