ufologist
Studies flying saucers
A ufologist is someone who studies unidentified flying objects and related phenomena, typically with the goal of proving extraterrestrial visitation.
The field, called ufology, exists largely outside mainstream science and academia, though practitioners often adopt scientific-sounding methods and terminology.
Ufologists investigate reported sightings, analyze photographs and videos, and interview witnesses.
The ufologist spent decades collecting accounts of alleged alien encounters.
