tulipwood

Furniture veneer material

Tulipwood is the wood of any of several trees, prized for decorative work.

Most commonly it refers to the yellowish, fine-grained wood of the tulip tree (American tulipwood), used in furniture and cabinetry.

Brazilian tulipwood, from a different tree entirely, displays striking pink and yellow stripes and is valued for inlay and turning: The box was crafted from Brazilian tulipwood.
