transmission tower

Electricity grid support

A transmission tower is a tall metal structure that supports high-voltage power lines, carrying electricity over long distances from generating stations to substations.

These towers typically have a lattice framework of steel and are spaced across the landscape in rows: Transmission towers marched across the valley toward the city.

Also called an electricity pylon, especially in British English.
