tow chain
Vehicle rescue connector
A tow chain is a heavy chain used to pull vehicles, typically when one is stuck or disabled.
Stronger than rope and resistant to abrasion, tow chains connect a stuck vehicle to one with traction: We hooked up the tow chain and pulled the truck out of the ditch.
They're standard equipment for tow trucks and common in rural areas where vehicles get mired in mud or snow.
