pry bar

Crate opening lever

A pry bar is a metal bar with a flattened, angled end used for leveraging things apart—prying open crates, removing nails, or separating boards.

The tool works by inserting the thin end into a gap and applying force to the handle.

Also called a crowbar, though pry bars tend to be smaller and flatter.
