tinstone
Source of tin
Tinstone is cassiterite, the principal ore of tin.
The mineral appears as heavy, dark crystals and has been mined since ancient times for tin production.
The term is more common in mining and geological contexts than in everyday speech: The miners discovered a rich vein of tinstone.
