tinikling
Philippine pole dance
Tinikling is a traditional Philippine folk dance in which dancers step nimbly between two bamboo poles that are rhythmically clapped together at ground level.
The dance mimics the movements of the tikling bird avoiding farmers' traps.
It requires precise timing and agility: We learned tinikling in PE class.
The dance is often performed at cultural festivals and has become a symbol of Filipino heritage.
