throttled

Squeezed the neck

Throttled is the past tense of throttle, which means to choke or strangle someone by compressing the throat: He throttled his attacker until the man went limp.

More commonly now, throttle means to restrict or regulate flow—an engine's throttle controls fuel intake, and internet providers throttle bandwidth to slow connection speeds: My downloads are crawling because they've throttled my data.

To throttle back is to reduce power or intensity.
