throttle down
Ease the engine
To throttle down is to reduce engine power by closing the throttle, decreasing fuel and air flow: The pilot throttled down for the descent.
Figuratively, it means to slow pace or reduce intensity: We need to throttle down and take a more measured approach.
The opposite of throttle up.
