throne-room

Seat of power

A throne-room is a ceremonial chamber where a monarch sits to receive visitors, hold audiences, and conduct formal state business.

The throne itself occupies a prominent position, often elevated on a dais.

By extension, throne-room sometimes appears as a joking euphemism for bathroom: I'll be in the throne-room.
