tax resistance
Refusing government levies
Tax resistance is the refusal to pay taxes as a form of political protest or civil disobedience.
Resisters may withhold all or part of their taxes to oppose government policies—military spending, for example—or to challenge the legitimacy of taxation itself.
She practiced tax resistance during the Vietnam War.
The act typically carries legal consequences, distinguishing it from tax evasion, which is concealment rather than open refusal.
