supernode
Highly connected vertex
A supernode is a node in a network that performs more functions or carries more traffic than ordinary nodes.
In peer-to-peer networks, supernodes coordinate connections between regular users.
In circuit analysis, a supernode is a conceptual grouping of two nodes connected by a voltage source, treated as a single unit for calculation purposes.
The term suggests exceptional capacity or special status within a larger system.
