betweenness
State of intervening
Betweenness is the quality or state of being between—occupying an intermediate position.
The word appears in technical contexts: in graph theory, betweenness centrality measures how often a node lies on the shortest path between other nodes.
More abstractly, it captures the experience of existing in liminal spaces: the betweenness of adolescence, a sense of cultural betweenness.
