Deneb

Alpha of Cygnus

Deneb is the brightest star in the constellation Cygnus (the Swan), marking the tail of the bird.

It forms one corner of the Summer Triangle, a prominent asterism visible in northern skies.

The name comes from Arabic for "tail." Deneb is among the most luminous stars visible to the naked eye, though its great distance—over a thousand light-years—makes it appear dimmer than closer stars.
