Tactical disorientation device
A flashbang is a grenade designed to disorient rather than kill, producing a blinding flash and deafening bang without lethal shrapnel.
Used by military and police in hostage rescues and room-clearing operations: SWAT tossed a flashbang through the window before entering.
Also called a stun grenade.
