stollen

Acquired without permission

Stollen is a German fruit bread traditionally eaten during Christmas, made with dried fruit, nuts, spices, and often marzipan, then dusted with powdered sugar.

The loaf's oblong shape supposedly represents the Christ child in swaddling clothes.

Every December, my grandmother ships us a stollen from the German bakery.
