stollens
Fruited holiday loaves
Stollens is the plural of stollen, a traditional German fruit bread eaten during the Christmas season.
Dense and rich, it contains dried fruit, nuts, and marzipan, dusted heavily with powdered sugar to resemble a snow-covered loaf: The bakery sold out of stollens by mid-December.
