stagecoachmen

Old West drivers

Stagecoachmen is the plural of stagecoach driver—men who drove horse-drawn passenger coaches along established routes before railroads dominated travel.

The term evokes 18th- and 19th-century transportation, when stagecoachmen navigated rough roads, managed teams of horses, and sometimes defended passengers against highwaymen: The stagecoachmen knew every inn along the route.
