squat thrust
Crouch-then-extend exercise
A squat thrust is a calisthenic exercise performed by starting in a standing position, dropping into a squat with hands on the floor, kicking the legs back into a plank position, then returning to the squat and standing up again.
The movement combines elements of a squat and a pushup position in rapid succession.
Squat thrusts build cardiovascular endurance and strengthen multiple muscle groups.
When a pushup is added between the plank and return, the exercise is typically called a burpee.
